It can't be too much of tea and talks while drifting through this season.. but what we like about winter that it brings more coziness to your home.. you surrender to the process of slowing dow, you enjoy time spent in the kitchen while preparing your favourite meal, sipping tea from the biggest cup you can ever have… talking about ideas you never have time to talk.. remembering past days, dreaming about the future.. so many great things can happen while having the cup of your favourite tea..
Today we’re having a tea talk with Kerensa, the host of cozy and beautiful venue in Tenerife where we will have incredible time at the beginning of March enjoying Pilates, Yoga and healthy cooking.
Lovely couple Steppe and Kerensa, founders of this beautiful place in Tenerife, made a life changing decision after the frustration of hardly seeing each other because of work commitments and busy life in the city. Although they both enjoyed their careers, Steppe was ready for a fresh challenge and Kerensa wanted to take her yoga practice and passion for cooking to the next level. This is when they founded this escape on the eastern slopes of sunny Tenerife in the Canary Islands, where in a suttle and fun environment they share and teach the things they love.
So let’s tea talk..
- Tell us what inspired you to create such a magical place in Tenerife and start hosting retreats?
We fell in love with the island after visiting friends in Gran Canaria. It's pollution free, has amazing climate and the produce is great!
- What do you love most about Santa Cruz? Santa Cruz as in the capital city?
I don't really spend much time there but there is a stunning view of the Anaga mountains from Santa Cruz which always amazes me.
I was brought up as a macrobiotic vegan and my mother was a great cook. I have always been passionate about healthy foods and how great they can taste.
- What is your special occasion dish your family and friends love most? I am known for my salads. I love throwing in grains, toasted nuts and seeds, tahini dressings and even some seasonal fruits.
- What is the most used ingredient in your kitchen? Lemon and probably coconut oil.
- What or who is your source of inspiration? I love bright and colourful foods. I follow blogs such as Green Kitchen Stories, My New Roots and Honestly Healthy
- What’s your favourite beach in Tenerife? Playa Grande and La Tejita
- What restaurant you would recommend to try when visiting Tenerife? Agua Y Sal in Tajao
- Could you list 3 places or activities in Tenerife you would include into ‘must visit / experience’ list? Surfing in El Medano, Hiking the Anaga mountains and eating the local seafood.
This interview brings up the appetite not only for delicious food which we are looking for to learn how to cook and to try, of course, but also for the sunny days on the island, smell of the ocean, laugh till your stomach hurts.. and so much more simple luxuries while welcoming the spring…
